Learn about the Worlds Urban environment

The Urban Environment is everything made by humans, from buildings, structures and everything we've adapted from nature. This is basically cities and towns that the majority of the world live in.

People choose to live in Urban Environments due to the lifestyle benefits. Things like readily available healthcare, access to jobs, lots of accommodation and good communication.

Currently over 50% of the worlds 7.2 billion people live in the Urban Environment and this figure is only expected to grow in the near future.

GREAT ANCIENT CITIES OF THE PAST

There are so many amazing cities in the World today including New York, London, Rome and Tokyo to name a few. But they all grew great because of the great cities of the past.

As history unfolds great cities come and go. One famous city that came and went is the famed city of Babylon. This impressive city sat in what is now Iraq and was written about for centuries after it was abandoned. It was said to be a beautiful city full of wonder and architecture that was beyond anything anyone had ever seen. It is not sure if they actually existed but look up 'The Hanging Gardens of Babylon' and the 'Tower of Babel' to see and read about these awe-inspiring landmarks.

One city that certainly did exist and still exists today is the ancient city of Cairo in Egypt. A city that dates back over 4,000 years it has been made famous by the Great pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Valley of the Kings, all things you should look up right away! The city and country of Egypt were controlled by Pharaohs, much like today's Kings and Queens. The most famous to us these days is Tutankhamun.
